#Foodventures- Sweet and Spicy Aam Panna

#Foodventures- Sweet and Spicy Aam Panna

We all love mangoes, don’t we?

And now that the season of mangoes is almost here, I can’t stop dreaming about the delicious aam panna, mango chutney and mango shake. Mango as a fruit in itself is very wholesome. It lowers blood pressure, cleanses skin (IT DOES NOT CAUSE ACNE), alkalizes the whole body and has a lot of other health benefits. Need more reasons to love them?

The other day I was watching Vir’s tête–à–tête with the chef on Alubukhara Dahi Tikki  and it got me thinking how we keep talking about the fact that opposites attract but we don’t experiment much with the same when it comes to food. I immediately decided to set on a #Foodventure with mangoes. Adding spice to mangoes would be so much fun! Especially to raw tangy mangoes.

Aam Panna

I slipped into my apron and collected:

2 small raw mangoes,

2-3 cardamoms powdered

1 tsp red chilli powder

2 tsp black salt

Jaggery powdered (as per taste)

And here’s what I did next:

  1. Rinse and steam the mangoes in a pressure cooker for 4 whistles (till they become completely pulpy)
  2. Remove the peel and separate the pulp in a container.
  3. Throw in the red chilli powder, cardamom powder, jaggery and black salt.
  4. Mix them to make the mixture smooth
  5. Add ¼ to ½ of this mixture to the glass and then fill the rest with chilled water/ice.
  6. You can also add a few mint leaves while serving.

This recipe serves 2-3 people, depending upon how thick you like your aam panna. J

Opposites attract! They do.

It’s time for you to become adventurous with food and share your #foodventure recipe with us, and you could get a chance to be in a #Foodventure video with either Vikas Khanna or Vir Sanghvi!

Which is your favourite sweet and spicy recipe? Head to and tell us.

Like I always say, eat seasonal! But with a twist this time. J
