Food Review: Lean Chef

Food Review: Lean Chef

I get a headache every time I hear “I’d rather enjoy my food and die early than eat healthy and live long?” There has always been a misconception that healthy food is not tasty. Putting it better- It’s just ghas phus. Just to debunk this myth, I decided to explore places that make finger licking healthy food.

Last week, post office, I decided to visit Lean Chef. I got titillated by fresh-from-the-oven aroma of the food items as soon as I entered the place.

Freshly Baked Burgers

They have great variety of healthy food options ranging from salads, smoothies, gluten-free breads to burgers, pizzas, pastas & desserts.

Getting down to what we ordered:

We started with Mediterranean Medley. This was a flat bread topped with red onions, green & black olives, feta cheese, tomatoes. And was served with my favourite- pesto sauce. They had some more flat bread options but I picked this because this had all my favourite vegetables & the sauce was an icing on the cake.

Lean Chef has a separate menu for shakes, juices & beverages which is designed exactly the way a classic alcohol menu is done, on a hard board. We called for 2 smoothies- Berry Blast, and Banana, Dark Chocolate & Mint.

I was confused while ordering the mains and decided to ask the staff. They suggested Harvest Vegetable Bake which was described as a blend of root vegetables with crunchy bread crumbs in tangy tomato sauce. This was served in a clay bowl. Though I found this a little bland.

Since I am a dark chocolate person, there were no second thoughts about what dessert to order. It was definitely The Ultimate Low Fat Chocolate Mousse that I wanted to savour. This was bitter & smooth, just perfect for my taste buds. But I hated the presentation.

What I liked about the place:

  • The oven-fresh aroma and the ambiance of the place is perfect for breakfast or a quick evening meal. The staff is very attentive
  • Fast service
  • Variety of options for those looking for delicious healthy food

What I did not like:

  • Presentation of the dessert I ordered
  • No carbs and protein breakdown for desserts
  • Limited seating
  • No takeaway option for freshly baked items

Eat wise to drop a size. 🙂
