It’s hard to come across people who don’t work out! Among the younger generation, I can positively sense a growing concern towards staying healthy and fit. A workout session at the start of the day or at the end has become mandatory. The rigors of long hours at the office, a sedentary lifestyle, wrong diet plans and unhealthy choices are wreaking havoc with your health.

The best way to put this right is by working your body and beating the stress. In our enthusiasm or impatience to attain positive results, we often disregard the importance of a ‘holistic’ workout. Figuring the needs of your body is probably the first step towards understanding your workout plan. Apart from this, you may well be working out the wrong way! That could do you more harm than good. Warming up is essential before moving on to bigger exercises. Feel at ease and do a couple of stretch exercises to prepare your body for what’s coming up next. Your warm-up time should roughly be around 5 to 6 minutes, within which you ought to perform a range of stretch exercise. The objective of warming up is to make your workout effective and minimize the risks of an injury.

You don’t necessarily need to hit the gym to work your body into shape. There are several other options too. Those who don’t put much faith in the gym, would prefer cycling, walking or even light aerobics and dancing. Every activity that makes you sweat it out is instrumental in keeping you in shape. We would advise you to try out a mix of everything! If you’re at the gym, divide your workout between cardio and weight-training. If you’re not a gym-lover, spend your workout time playing outdoor sports, running or dancing. Lastly, an experimental fitness enthusiast would love to try out a little bit of everything by opting for a diverse workout experience.
